2007 Advanced Technology Summit Nomination Categories
The 2007 Advanced Technology Summit Award winners were chosen from initiatives and programs that addressed innovative uses, services, and collaborations over the OSCnet. Initiatives may have been from the local, state or regional level; one of the collaborative partners must have been from Ohio.
The following were general evaluation criteria

The awards committee presented the awards at an evening gala of the Advanced Technology Summit held on May 1, 2007 in Columbus, Ohio.
Deadline for nominations was February 12, 2007.
Three major categories were awarded.
Category: Leadership
Description: Individual or group that has demonstrated innovation, vision, and collaboration in implementing networking technologies or services on a campus level.
Specific Awards
• Emerging Network Technology
• Campus Network
• Online Curriculum
Examples
• New approaches to bandwidth management
• Wireless implementations that address security needs
• Security applications to protect campus networks
• Making real-time networks work through security applications
Category: Experimental and Application Research over the Network
Description: Research or applications of scientific merit that require bandwidth, latency, and/or service and that traverse the OSCnet.
Specific Awards
• Remote modeling, simulation, visualization
• Remote measurements and instrumentation
Examples
• Novel ways to transfer large amounts of data
• Real-time steering and control applications
• Innovative remote educational laboratories (e.g., curriculum development and content sharing)
• Distributed and grid computing applications
Category: Collaboration
Description: Individuals or groups who work together to demonstrate usage of the OSCnet related to improved access to services, economic and workforce development, disaster recovery, improved healthcare, and other community-based needs.
